Road is plagued by learner drivers PARLIAMENT Road residents were fed up with their road being used by large numbers of learner drivers for practising. Middlesbrough Council had received numerous complaints that learner drivers, not just from Middlesbrough but from Stockton and Billingham as well, were using the street from early morning to late at night, day after day.

'Guilty - but on my way to Australia' A STOCKTON man wrote a letter to Stockton Magistrates Court saying that he was unable to attend as he was on a ship bound for Australia where he and his family were starting a new life. In his letter he pleaded guilty to the charge of poaching, the court gave him a conditional discharge.
