TS1'S property market is predominately made up of town houses. There's a huge amount of rental activity taking place and it's very popular with investors. You'll find a lot of two and three-bedroom terraces - but some have been converted to four bedrooms to maximise rental potential. The market for sales has been static for the last 12 months and the market is fairly tough. For people who have lived in the area for a long time who are now looking to sell, they may feel their house is worth more than they're currently able to get for it.
At the lower end of the market you can find properties priced around pounds 45,000 - which means it's an area where first-time buyers can get on to the property ladder, although lending remains tough. A nice terrace house, located closer to the Linthorpe area, will be priced up to pounds 85,000. TS1 is popular because it's in walking distance of the town centre and the university.
