Summary
LATE payments to small businesses could plunge the UK economy into recession in 2008, according to credit checking firm e-bcm.
The warning comes on the back of a study by BACS Payment Services, which revealed that small firms are owed pounds 30,000 on average at any one time and that the total late payment figure has grown by pounds 2.6bn to pounds 18.6bn during the previous year. Almost three out of ten small businesses questioned said that they would go under if their outstanding debts reached pounds 20,000.See the full content of this document
