THANKS to the commissioning of the new pounds 70m extension at SITA UK's energy-fromwaste facility at Haverton Hill (Business, 09.09.09) household waste from Northumberland is now being diverted into the additional furnace - great, but we are becoming a dumping ground.

They say it will be a great benefit to the environment with 110,000 tons of waste being transported by road, but there is a railway yard next to the plant.
