Time to Decide On a Favourite Cause
But the size of the cheque will depend on the amount of support they gain from Evening Gazette readers in the form of tokens.
Starting today, we'll be printing Wish tokens every day in the Gazette over the next nine weeks (look in the main paper to find tonight's tokens). The cashpot will be divided by the number of tokens collected - so the bigger a group's share of the tokens, the bigger its share of the money. Remember every token counts - so make sure you help out your favourite cause. Our registered groups range from schools and sports clubs to animal charities and old folks' groups plus many more besides. We've got groups spread across Teesside, covering every community and every age range. In this special 16-page supplement we detail every group on our Wish list to help you decide which to support. We tell you what the group does and why it needs your help. And we've published a name and address to send your tokens to.You can also go online to our community sites on gazettelive.co.uk to find which groups are collecting tokens in your postal area. Each group has been sent a starter pack - including a token collection box - to help them collect tokens in their own community.Groups need to collect as many tokens as possible and we'll let everyone know the size of their share of the pounds 30,000 in December.Evening Gazette editor, Darren Thwaites, said: "We've been delighted at the number of groups which have applied for a share of our Wish money. We know there are so many deserving causes across every community which work hard to make a real difference to the people they serve. It is good to be able to hand out pounds 30,000, especially at this time of recession.
