Summary
THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for Boro legend Gary Parkinson at a special charity dinner. A huge pounds 16,000 was made at the event at his former club Burnley's Turf Moor ground. Thornabyborn Gary, pictured, who was part of the iconic Boro team of 1986, is currently being cared for after suffering a major stroke. Ex-team mates, colleagues, friends and family have all rallied around since news of the ex-defender's illness broke. The dinner was attended by representatives from Burnley, Preston North End, and Blackpool FC - where Gary had been working as head of youth development.
Gary's wife Debbie was also at the event. Fellow Boro legend Bernie Slaven has organised a similar event at Tall Trees, near Yarm, on May 12.See the full content of this document
