Summary
THE boost for Teesside with the announcement of the Enterprise Zone somewhere in the region should last for generations if it is handled well. The battle is still to be fought between Middlesbrough, Stockton, Redcar and Cleveland, Darlington and Hartlepool, as to where it will be - and that will be a clear indicator for Government as to the future shape of the region.
If the debate turns into a squabble, and then into open hostility, then the battle is lost and our reputation is in tatters again. But if the authorities can work together, genuinely applaud each other's benefits and achievements and choose the best main site from where the ripples will spread across Teesside - then we have cleared a huge hurdle and perhaps some may even start thinking of a unified authority.See the full content of this document
