A MUM who nearly lost her life after contracting swine flu while heavily pregnant is today showing off her healthy baby boy.

It was November 8 last year, on partner Kevin's birthday, that Joanne was taken to Accident and Emergency with cold symptoms, back and chest pains, and breathing difficulties. She was nearly seven months pregnant and as her health deteriorated rapidly she was transferred to Intensive Care Unit three. By 8pm the same evening Joanne was on a ventilator and in a medically-induced coma as she struggled to breathe. The mum was diagnosed with swine flu and bilateral pneumonia and ended up in the coma for 24 days, as doctors battled to save both lives.See the full content of this document
