SPENNYMOOR climbed back to the top of the Cleveland and North Yorkshire Sporting Clay League after an impressive 186-177 home victory over Fox Hall. Bill Cairns and G Dixon were top scorers with 24s for Spennymoor, although the high gun on the night was Phil Hutchinson from Fox Hall with a perfect 25 out of 25. Oak Lodge fell to second place after an away defeat by 178-157 at Stokesley. Kevin Bushby and K Williamson were joint top guns for Stokesley with 24s, while Andy Calvert and Paul Coulson both scored 22s for Oak Lodge. Thimbleby are now in third place after a narrow 162-158 home victory over Marne. Steve Boal and G Dalton high scored with 22s for Thimbleby, while Tony Masters from Marne scored similarly. Urlay Nook are now fourth after visitors Great Smeaton held them to a 172- all draw. Paul Foster from Great Smeaton shot a straight 25, while Alan Tart and Paul Dowson scored 23s for Urlay Nook. The second leg of the Inter League event is to be held on Sunday, July 1, at Oak Lodge. Entries are from 10am-2pm.
