WITH reports that the Royal Oak at Scapa Flow is leaking oil again, surely the day when it must be removed for scrap cannot be postponed much longer.

Thin plating has had to be welded over leaking corroded plates on a number of occasions over the past 20 years. Obviously this cannot continue indefinitely.
