Mp's Fight to Protect Tigers

Summary

Fiona Hall, Liberal Democrat North-east Euro MP, has signed a Written Declaration in the European Parliament calling for an end to the illegal trading of tiger and leopard skins in India, China and Nepal.

She said: "Tigers and leopards are endangered species and I am very concerned about the role of organised criminal networks in the international trafficking of tiger and leopard skins from India to China via Nepal. I would like to see European governments providing technical and financial assistance to the Indian, Nepalese and Chinese governments to improve enforcement efforts and cross-border co-operation. It is imperative this illegal trading is brought to an end."
