RUMOURS have been circulating about closure, for an undisclosed period of several moths, of Central Library for alterations.

While the role of the lending library can be filled temporarily by branch libraries elsewhere in the borough, what is proposed to keep the facilities of the reference library available during the closure? The reference library fills a function which cannot in any meaningful way be replaced by the small collections of reference books available in branch libraries.
