Q. I want to go for an all white theme in my new home but the rest of the family is against it and say it isn't child friendly and will look harsh. Choose a tone of wood that you like, for example flooring in a dark wood will help to create a little drama in an all white room, oak furniture creates warmth and distressed or lime finishes create a lived in comfortable look.
As for the practicality aspect with a family, painted surfaces can be easily touched up and washed down and a lot of paint manufacturers produce a tougher than normal paint range to cope with family life.
