Summary
NHS Tees has been awarded pounds 400,000 by the Department of Health to deliver a Tees-wide Cancer Awareness Project which will be linked to the well established NHS Healthy Heart Check programme. The innovative project which is aimed at raising awareness of cancer, intends to identify people that are at high risk of developing cardio vascular disease and make them more aware of the signs and symptoms of cancer.
The three disease areas, cardiovascular disease, cancer and respiratory disease, contribute between 60% and 75% of the burden of reduced life expectancy for both men and women in Teesside.
