Summary
As part of the Pondscape project, the Trust will be carrying out surveys for frogs, newts and toads. This is important in establishing the quality of a pond and what management it may need.
Surveys will be underway from now until the end of July, when amphibians are present in ponds. One survey technique, which is particularly appropriate in murky pond waters, is to construct 'newt traps' from two litre plastic pop bottles. These work in a similar way to a lobster pot, and the amphibians are safely returned to the pond as soon as the survey is finished.See the full content of this document
