BUSINESS Secretary Lord Mandelson was admitted to a London hospital today for a routine operation to deal with a "benign condition of the prostate", a Government spokesman said.

Former Hartlepool MP Lord Mandelson, pictured, who is also the First Secretary of State, is expected to stay in St Mary's Hospital in Paddington overnight.
