WITH reference to Cllr Ken Walker's letter Challenging Time (31.12.08), how can a local administration find a way to reduce services to the public, which it has a statutory duty to perform, in the space of from now to when budgets have to be agreed ahead of determination of council tax for the year?
The way to freeze council tax, if that is going to happen, is first to have a grant settlement from central government which takes up an even greater share than at present of local government expenditure.See the full content of this document
