Summary


ALL patriots, and all democrats, must be grateful that Gordon Brown lacked the courage to call an early General Election.

He would probably have won and, even if he had a greatly reduced majority, he would have achieved his crucial objective - to extricate the Labour and Liberal Democrat MPs from their 2005 manifesto pledges to put the EU Constitution to the people in a referendum.
