Summary
THE recent Gazette report about the Lancaster bomber crashing near Teesside brings back sad memories for me.
I was in the ATC when I visited Middleton St George in March 1942. The Lancaster had only recently been based at the aerodrome and elsewhere across the nation when I had sat in the gun turret of one of them, and looking at several more lined up on the foggy runways gave me a strange feeling of excitement and sadness.See the full content of this document
