YOUR correspondent Councillor S Kay insists (Your Say, 15.9.07) that the North Riding of Yorkshire still legally exists, and indeed that Middlesbrough is included within its boundaries.
As a councillor, surely he is aware that the NRY was officially abolished as a Local Government administrative area in 1974. I cannot understand why so many people from Redcar & Cleveland, championed by so many of their councillors, will not accept the "fact" that Local Government reorganisation determines that Yorkshire and the Ridings no longer exist as administrative entities.See the full content of this document
