A LEADING Teesside process engineering boss has accused the Government of betraying the trust of thousands of young apprentices who face losing their jobs.

George Ritchie, senior vice-president of human resources for Sembcorp - the utility provider for the Wilton site - said it would be a "criminal act" if the Government did not intervene to protect trainees who would be robbed of the chance to complete their qualifications as a consequence of the recession.
