A cabbie has hit out after a road closure left him facing a pounds 30 fine for helping a pensioner get to a Boro match.

Dave Beeston was dropping 76-year-old Alexander Ralph at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough for Boro's clash with Fulham on Sunday when police told him Shepherdson Way, which goes around the ground, was off limits to him. But Dave was concerned about his passenger struggling with the walk in pouring rain - and he drove on. Now he has been slapped with a pounds 30 fine.
