BLACKBURN virtually destroyed themselves at the end of the 1990s as the result of several bad signings.

Roy Hodgson had taken Rovers into the UEFA Cup in 1998 with Chris Sutton and Kevin Gallacher leading a prolific attack, overcoming the disappointing form of new signing Martin Dahlin. But Hodgson was sacked the following December with Rovers struggling, with new signings struggling to settle. The pounds 7.5m signing of Southampton striker Kevin Davies was a disaster, only netting once in 24 games.
