Summary
BROKEN Britain will be even more broken after all the cutbacks that this Government are making and the unemployed, pensioners, low paid and the disabled will all suffer. Increases in VAT, petrol, gas, electric and food will hit really hard and it will be a choice for many whether to eat or heat their homes. This Big Society is nothing more than a sham and for the unemployed to replace workers who have lost their jobs and to make them work full-time for a pittance. We would challenge any MP to live on benefits or low pay. Some MPs spend more on a bottle of wine than some on low pay or benefits get for a week. With the students protesting about tuition fees, there will be a lot more protesting in the new year. While the bankers are still getting their large bonuses, it's the good people of this country who will suffer the most by these unfair cuts.

Over the last 30 years British banks have tried several times to establish themselves as a major force in the US. Each time they have tried they have failed - with disastrous results. Midland Bank tried it and had to be rescued by Hong Kong Shanghai Bank. Midland are now no longer in existence and their branches carry the HSBC brand.
