DEPARTING Northern Rock boss Gary Hoffman may still come back to snap up the bank.

Chief Executive Mr Hoffman - who had only been in the job for two years - will be on garden leave until next April when he will join NBNK Investments, a new banking start-up led by Lloyds of London chairman Lord Levene.
