Cancer study pioneered in Guisborough A GROUNDBREAKING international cancer study is to be spearheaded in Guisborough, it was revealed. Major tests were to be carried out on the health benefits of selenium - a mineral found in Brazil nuts, grain, fish and meat - which were reputed to protect against cancer. Patients, aged 60 to 74, at a Guisborough surgery were to be involved in a pilot study by the Medical Research Council.
Plans to boost flights from North-east NORTH-EAST hopes of improving the region's air services were now getting off the ground. MPs planned to boost both regular and charter flights from Teesside and Newcastle Airports - in a bid to see off the threat of Manchester dominating Northern air routes.
