MIDDLETON Rangers Under-14s travelled across the North Yorkshire Moors to Settle to compete in an end-of-season tournament. Middleton found themselves in a round robin group of five teams. Harrison Takes an Easy Win at Finals ; Bowls

THE finals of the Cleveland County competitions were due to be held at Thornaby and Grayfields but due to flooded greens they were transferred at short notice to Ropner Park. The men's four bowl singles title was won by Paul Harrison who had a comfortable 21-6 win over Bill Shand.

Lucy Set for Canadian Waters

KAYAKING queen Lucy Gardener will be heading to Canada this August to represent Great Britain in the Paddle-Ability Sprint Squad. Lucy will be competing in the 200m Sprint kayaking event on flatwater.

Obituary: Tom Coltman

TOM COLTMAN, of Park End, died on July 16, aged 86, after battling a long illness. During the war Tom was conscripted to work in the coal mines for four years as a Bevin Boy.
