PEOPLE are being urged to have their say on plans to replace a centre for excluded school pupils with a new building. The proposals for the new Ashdale Pupil Referral Unit, to replace its existing Marton Road building, are going on public show.

REDCAR Town Under-9s went to the prestigious Corus Cup tournament along with 23 other teams from all over the North-east of England. The Redcar lads topped their group after wins against local rivals Teesside and Acklam Athletic and draws with TIBS, North Ormesby and Farringdon.

Cali Girls

THE pride of South Bank, California Girls Under-10s, added another trophy to their already vast collection for the season when they won the Corus Cup in the Steel Gala tournament. This would prove to be the biggest tournament the girls had entered to date and the competition was immense with the Tyneside League and Cup champions, the North Riding Cup champions and the Tyneside League and Cup runners-up in Cali"s group.

Northfield Top Thanks to 14-Point Haul

BY SCORING 14 points from two matches in last week's fixtures, Northfield A have clinched the top position in Division 1 of the Cleveland and District Summer Table Tennis League. Northfield's first match was at home to Darlington RA where they played a 5-5 draw with a hat-trick from Danny Welsh. Phil Robinson and Giulio Pontone replied with two each for Darlington, while Michael Hahn won one against Chris Johns.

GUISBOROUGH Swimming Club swam to the Moors League title at Eston. The team achieved a full set of five out of five gala victories to take away the league trophy for the first time in 19 years.

PAUL DRINKHALL, from Loftus, the current English Table Tennis Champion, took a break from training to visit his old club, Ormesby Table Tennis Club, to give his support to the players of the disability section of the club. They will be representing the Northern Team in the 2009 Special Olympics Great Britain Championships, which are due to take place in Leicester from July 25 to August 1. AMONG the cases dealt with at Teesside Magistrates' Court on May 20 were: Toni Leigh Walker, 19, of Cranbourne Terrace, Stockton, given an 18-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay pounds 200 compensation and pounds 60 costs for assault causing actual bodily harm. Nikki Christopher O'Hara, 26, of Honeysuckle Court, Norton, jailed for 12 weeks for sexual assault, theft, failing to comply with a community order and Bail Act offences.

Judge Says Jail Is Likely

A CELEBRITY freelance photographer has hit the headlines again - for the wrong reasons - as he pleaded guilty to money laundering crimes. Terry Lee Blackburn, 26, of Knitsley Walk, Stockton, pictured, was told he must expect a prison sentence after he admitted four money laundering offences to the tune of more than pounds 5,000.

Obituary: Gary Auckland

TRIBUTES have been paid to firefighter Gary Auckland who died in his sleep. The 40-year-old was buried on Monday, following a full fire brigade funeral at Teesside Crematorium.
